How to Verify a Seal Code
This guide explains how to verify the authenticity of a document using its unique ten-digit seal code. This process is the primary method for confirming that a document you have received was sealed by a specific professional and the professional is who they say they are.
📝 Verifying a Seal Code
- Navigate to the verification page using one of two methods:
- Go directly to the URL verifythisseal.com/[seal code] (e.g., verifythisseal.com/6FP-4UL6-Y5E).
- From the verifythisseal.com home page, enter the ten-digit seal code into the header search bar and click Verify. You can enter the code with or without dashes.
- On the next screen, you will be prompted to Enter the last four digits of the professional's license number. For example, if the license is "PE-203022", you would enter "3022".
- Click Submit. If the numbers match, the system will display the official Seal Verification Details page.
After completing these steps, you must carefully compare the details on the screen with the details on your document.
✅ Understanding the Verification Details
A successful match provides strong assurance that the seal is authentic. This section explains what you should see on the verification page.
Once the seal code and license number are validated, the Seal Verification Details page will load. A complete match between the information on this page and the details on your document serves as confirmation that the seal owner affixed their seal to that specific document. You should compare:
- Professional's Information: Check that the professional's name, license type (e.g., Ohio Registered Architect), and license number match what is on the document.
- Unique Document Characteristics: This is a critical step. Carefully verify that the specific project details listed on the verification page (like project name, address, permit number, or client information) are an exact match for the document you are holding.
🛑 Reporting a Discrepancy
To protect the integrity of the system and the public, it is crucial to report any inconsistencies immediately.
Please be aware of the following:
- If any detail under "Professional's Information" or "Unique Document Characteristics" does not match your document, it could indicate a problem.
- In case of a mismatch, please click the Report Discrepancy button on the verification details page to notify the system administrator immediately.
🔒 Trust & Verification
The security of professional seals is our highest priority. Understanding the verification process helps maintain trust.
- What Verification Means: A successful verification confirms that the professional whose name is on the seal is the one who sealed the document and that the unique document identifiers match.
- Licensure Status: VerifyThisSeal.com verifies a professional's license at the time of their registration with our service. For the most current license status, please consult the appropriate state licensing board, such as the Ohio Architects Board.
- Data Integrity: The details you see are recorded at the moment the professional creates the seal, providing a secure snapshot for future verification.
