Verify a Professional

This guide explains how to use the "Verify a Professional" tool. This feature allows you to check if a professional is registered with VerifyThisSeal.com and to see their status, using their name and license information. It is useful for confirming that a professional uses our system or for investigating a seal that does not have a corresponding document code.

📝 Searching for a Professional

Follow these steps to look up a professional in our system. All fields are required to perform a search.

To perform the search, navigate to the Verify a Professional page. The process involves the following steps:

1. Select the professional's licensing State / Jurisdiction from the first dropdown menu. This will activate the "Profession" menu.
2. Select the appropriate Profession from the second dropdown menu.
3. Enter the professional's Last Name in the corresponding text field.
4. Enter the Last Four Characters of Seal / License number into the final field.
5. Click the Verify Professional button to submit your search.

After completing these steps, the system will display the search results on the same page.

✅ Understanding the Search Results

The system will return one of three primary results based on the information you provided.

• Seal Is Registered

  This is a successful result. It confirms the professional is an active and approved user of VerifyThisSeal.com for that specific seal. The results will show when they started using the system to serialize their seal.

•  Seal is Not Claimed

  This result means a record for the professional exists, but it has not yet been claimed by its owner or is pending approval. Because the professional is not actively using VerifyThisSeal.com for this seal, you should use traditional methods for verification. We invite the seal holder to register or log in to claim their seal.

•  Seal is Not Registered

  This result means no seal matching the criteria was found in our system. We invite the seal holder to get started and register their seal with our system.

📝 How to Report a Seal

If your search results in a "Seal Is Registered" status, you will see an option to report if you have seen this seal used on a document without a VerifyThisSeal.com code.

To submit a report:

1. Click the red Report It button below the successful search result.
2. A form will appear. In the How was the seal used? field, provide details about the document where you saw the seal.
3. Provide your contact email in the Your Email field.
4. Click Submit Report.

🛑 Important Limitations

To protect data integrity, please be aware of the following:

• If your search fails or returns an error, please double-check that all four fields are filled out correctly and try again.
• Unless noted on the report, VerifyThisSeal.com does not monitor whether a seal owner has a valid license. Do not use the report to determine the status of the seal holder's license. Use the licensing body's tools to determine whether a license is valid.
• This tool verifies a professional's registration status with VerifyThisSeal.com. It is not a substitute for verifying a specific document using the document's unique ten-digit seal code.
